At CASCADA Hotel and BOLERO Restaurante, we stand for more than just first-class service and exquisite gastronomy. Our motto – PASSION, WARMTH & MINDFULNESS – also forms the basis for our commitment to environmental and sustainability issues. Here is what it means for you and for us:

Already implemented sustainability measures
 

  1. Energy Saving Measures: Our heating and cooling supply is provided by heat recovery from the wastewater of Hirschmattstrasse, supported by EWL green electricity.
  2. Social Responsibility: We focus on employee development and training, equality, pay equity, and transparent communication of business figures.
  3. Food Waste Management: A structured concept and monitoring to avoid food waste is standard for us.
  4. Local and Spanish Product Procurement: Whenever possible, we source our products from Switzerland or Spain.
  5. Sustainable Mobility: With an electric hotel bus and four electric vehicle charging stations, we reduce our ecological footprint.
  6. LED Lighting: We use 100% LED lighting throughout the company.
  7. Electronic Menus: To reduce paper waste, we use electronic menus.
  8. Environmentally Friendly Products: We use biodegradable cleaning chemicals and hygiene products.
  9. Employee Satisfaction: Regular surveys and attractive benefits, fair compensation, and training opportunities aim to sustainably ensure the satisfaction and commitment of our team.
  10. Water Concept: With our AQUAPULERO system, we offer filtered, chilled water with and without carbonation at BOLERO Restaurante, reducing transport routes and single-use packaging.
  11. Abandonment of Single-Use Bottles: In the hotel rooms, we replace traditional water bottles with reusable glass bottles for our guests, significantly minimizing PET and glass waste.
  12. Green Button: Guests can personalize or cancel room cleaning at the touch of a button – this measurably reduces laundry and cleaning product consumption.

Planned measures by 2028

  1. Window Renewal: All windows in the hotel rooms will be renewed to increase energy efficiency.
  2. Solar Panels: We plan to install solar panels for hot water generation.
  3. Waterfall Hotel Concept: We promote the awareness of the most beautiful Swiss waterfalls by expanding our "Waterfall Hotel" concept.

KITRO

In our kitchen, there's a smart scale with a camera from KITRO – located right by the dishwashing station. It automatically measures what is being thrown away and how much. This helps us identify where food waste occurs and take targeted action against it.
